I am Pamela Smith, founder of Pamela Smith Foundation, Inc. and author of the recently published book, "Begging for Justice: The Silent Coalition."
I was repeatedly raped and abused by a state employee behind the prison walls. My cry for justice was ignored by the office of the Tulsa District Attorney, the office of the Attorney General, as well as the Congressional offices in Washington, D.C. I was able to rise and gain strength through prayer and a strong relationship with God.
My story highlights the violent and inhumane acts inmates are subjected to while serving their sentences. My mission is to reach out to other voiceless victims who need support. I have been blessed to host my own TV Show, Talk to Pamela on KWHB TV 47 twice monthly on Saturdays at 4:30 p.m.
On my journey to overcome doubt, fear, torture and threats, I promised God if He would see me through my trials and tribulations I would become a voice for the powerless women behind the prison walls who are abused. Oklahoma leads the nation of incarcerated women.
